International child abductions

The Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the central executive authority for communication between judicial bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad in cases of international child abduction.

International child abduction refers to the unlawful removal and/or retention of a child in another country.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a signatory to the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, The Hague, 25 October 1980, which was adopted by the notification on succession to the international treaties of the SFRY.

The Convention regulates the procedure in cases of the unlawful removal or retention of children abroad by a parent or other blood relative.

Furthermore, the Convention also applies to the realisation of the right of a parent or other blood relatives to have contact with the child.
