Conference on Cooperation between the Government and Civil Society



27.03.2009 - Conference "Strengthening the democratic culture of dialogue and cooperation between government institutions and civil society in BiH - Implementation of the Agreement on cooperation between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the NGO sector in BiH " will be held under the auspices of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Dr. Nikola Spiric, on 31st March 2009, at 11:00 am, in the Great Hall of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, in Sarajevo. The organizers of the conference are Civil Society Board, Sector for Civil Society at the Ministry of Justice of BiH, NGO Council and Civil Society Promotion Center (CSPC), and co-organizers are United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and European Commission Delegation to BiH. 

The aim of the conference is to encourage and additionally stimulate specific activities of the Government and NGO sector on the coherent implementation of the "Agreement on cooperation between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the NGO sector in BiH", signed on 7th May 2007. Implementation of the Agreement will contribute to the development of new democratic political practice in the relations between the Government and NGO sector in our country, and encourage its application at all other levels of authority, namely municipal, cantonal and entity level.

Representatives of the civil society from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina will send a message to the citizens, domestic and foreign community, about their commitment and readiness to work jointly, through dialogue, consultations and partnership cooperation, on resolving the key political, economic, social and other issues which faces BiH and the majority of its citizens.

Representatives of all levels of executive and legislative authorities, local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), non-governmental networks, coalitions and other civil society organizations in BiH, as well as representatives of the international community, donor organizations and agencies engaged in the promotion and development of democracy and civil society, are expected to participate at the conference. 

Priority aims and programs of the future cooperation will be established on the basis of the conclusions of the conference and thus the BiH authorities and civil society in our country will give their own contribution in the realization of EU strategic documents.
