The Agreement on Equal Terms and Conditions for Placement of Forensic Patients from Entire Bosnia and Herzegovina Approved

18 June 2009 – The BiH Council of Ministers has approved the Agreement on Placement and Reimbursement of Expenses Incurred by the Execution of Custodial Orders for Medical Treatment Pronounced in Criminal and Other Proceedings proposed by the BiH Ministry of Justice. Singing of this Agreement will enable spending of CHF 2.800.000 donated by the Swiss Government for reconstruction of the Sokolac Special Hospital of Forensic Psychiatry.
As a reminder, on the initiative of the BiH Ministry of Justice, the entity Governments and the Government of Brčko District, the Clinical Centre of Istočno Sarajevo and the Municipality of Sokolac have earlier agreed on the key actions to be taken to solve the property issue and the issue of operation of the specific facility at Sokolac, a future specialized institution that was founded by the Republika Srpska Government. The Agreement ensures equal terms and conditions for placement of inmates who need psychiatric treatment and who come from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The agreement will be signed by Nikola Špirić, the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers and entity Prime Ministers, the Prime Minister of Brčko District of BiH and the Director of the Clinical Centre of Istočno Sarajevo.
After signing the Agreement an invitation to tender for reconstruction works will be published. The reconstruction is expected to be finished by the end of 2009 when the first inmates are to be admitted.
