MEETING OF THE MINISTERS OF JUSTICE OF BIH AND HUNGARY

Minister of Justice of BiH, Josip Grubeša, met in Sarajevo with the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of Hungary led by the Minister Laszlo Trocsanyi. It was emphasized at the meeting that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary have a good cooperation in the area and domain of work of the two Ministries. International legal assistance between the two countries is properly implemented in both criminal and civil matters, and it is assessed that there are good basis for all forms of international legal assistance and cooperation.
Minister Grubeša introduced the guests with the work of the Ministry of Justice of BiH, with the special emphasis on the legal solutions and adjustments that BiH is obliged to make on its path to the European Union membership.
In that regard, Minister Trocsanyi offered assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, so that our country could faster harmonize its laws with the Acquis Communautaire.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary are parties to a great number of multilateral treaties regulating the area of international legal assistance and they are also parties to the European conventions on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, extradition, transfer of proceedings in criminal matters and extradition of convicted persons.
International legal assistance between the two countries is also regulated by the UN conventions, of which the most important one is the convention in the area of fight against corruption and organized crime. Both countries are members of the Hague Conference on Private International Law regulating the area of legal assistance in civil matters.
The meeting was also attended by the Hungarian Ambassador to BiH, Jozsef Negyesi.
