Presented Proposal of the Text for the National Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina



20.02.2009 - Members of the Commission for National Hymn Text Selection have presented today proposal of the text for the National Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The authors of the proposed text are Mr. Dusan Sestic, author of the music of the Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Mr. Benjamin Isović. The proposal will be referred to the Council of Ministers of BiH for adoption.  

Public competition for the text of the National Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened from June to October last year. All citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina had a right to compete, and Ministry of Justice of BiH received 339 proposals. The proposals came from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as from other countries. One of the main evaluation criteria of the Commission for National Hymn Selection, composed of MPs, prominent writers and music authors, was that all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina can identify themselves in the selected text.

If Council of Ministers and Parliamentary Assembly of BiH adopt the proposed text, the authors will share the reward of 30.000 BAM.

At the press conference, which was organized on the occasion of presenting the proposed text, the Hymn was sung by Dragica Panic Kašanski, ethnomusicologist, and this was the first performance of the National Hymn.
