23 October 2008 – The Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, USAID JSDP and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH are organizing a two-day course of training in international assistance and cooperation in criminal matters, which will be held in Sarajevo today and tomorrow. The trainer in the important training is Ms.  Joana Gomes Ferreira, Prosecutor and Chairwoman of the Council of Europe Expert Committee for the Implementation of European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.

The goal of the training, which is to be attended by judges and prosecutors of Bosnia and Herzegovina and representatives of the Judicial and Prosecutorial Training Centre, is to inform them about the European standards of international assistance in criminal matters. The discussion will be particularly focused on Council of Europe Conventions such as: the European Convention on Extradition, the European Convention on the Transfer of Criminal Proceedings, the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters and the European Convention on the Transfer.

The Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina as Central Authority for mutual assistance in criminal matters considers this type of training very important for the achievement of common goals by judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other European countries.
