Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Slovenia Signed the Agreement on Legal Assistance

21.10.2009.- Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Bariša Čolak and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Aleš Zalar have signed today, in Ljubljana, the Agreement on Legal Assistance in Civil and Criminal Matters. Signing of this agreement was marked as opening of a new chapter of judicial cooperation between the two countries.
Agreement on Legal Assistance in Civil and Criminal Matters facilitates the provision of legal assistance and guarantees equal rights and free access to courts to the citizens of both countries. Legal assistance covered by this agreement includes: service of documents, exchange of notices on regulations, sending data and copies from criminal records, transfer of criminal prosecution and procedural acts (hearing of parties, witnesses, experts, etc.). The Ministers have emphasized that the agreement covers all issues necessary for the successful conclusion of judicial proceedings.
At the meeting was also discussed overall mutual cooperation between the two Ministries, reactivation of the procedure for conclusion of the Agreement on Property-Legal Relations between the two countries and possible assistance that the Republic of Slovenia can provide in relation to the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union.
