Agreements on Mutual Legal Assistance Signed between BiH and Algeria

Minister of Justice of BiH, Mr. Barisa Colak, and the Minister of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr. Tayeb Belaiz, have signed today in Algeria agreements on mutual legal assistance between the two countries. Agreements govern the actions of the judicial bodies and contribute to the legal protection of citizens and business entities, which is especially important with regards to the migration and rapid economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Ministers have signed the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, Agreement on Extradition and Agreement on Legal Assistance in Civil and Commercial Matters between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters and Agreement on Extradition especially contribute to the strengthening of cooperation in the fight against cross-border organized crime. On the other hand, Agreement on Legal Assistance in Civil and Commercial Matters regulates the issue of legal protection of the citizens of the two countries and cooperation between the judicial bodies in providing mutual legal assistance in civil and commercial matters, as well as issues in the area of recognition and enforcement of court and arbitrary decisions. The aim is more effective exercising of rights and interests of the citizens, as well as improving general relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The Agreement will enter into force after the ratification in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
