Conference of Ministers of Justice and Ministers of Interior

Conference of Ministers of Justice and Ministers of Interior of South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) was held on March 16-18, 2011, in Budva. Theme of the conference was mechanisms of cooperation in the fight against organized crime in the region. The Ministers committed themselves to continue harmonization of national legislation with the key international standards on criminal justice, in order to further strengthen measures in the fight against organized crime.
It was concluded that challenges of organized crime cannot be successfully tackled only on the national level, and therefore it is necessary to undertake concrete steps on the regional level also to enhance efforts and comprehensively confront organized crime. Organization of Regional Conference of the Ministers of Justice and Ministers of Interior presents the important value in addressing these issues, sharing of experiences, as well as identifying ways and forms of further regional cooperation in the fight against organized crime.
Ministers of Justice and Ministers of Interior of the region have signed the Declaration on strengthening regional cooperation and coordination in the fight against organized crime of South East Europe. The aim of the signing of this Declaration is to comprehensively strengthen the fight against organized crime on the regional level, as well as to consider and implement various forms of cooperation and to establish effective and efficient system of fight against organized crime.
South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) started in 1996, and this year Montenegro assumed the chairmanship over the SEECP.
