Strengthening Local Self-Government in Bosnia and Herzegovina

11.12.2008.- Ministry of Justice of BiH will host a signing ceremony of Entity Cooperation Memoranda at UNDP Project of establishing training system for local self-government units’ employees. Having in mind the importance of local self-government, as the level of government who is the closest to the citizens, the project is focused at the training and development of a competent and professional local administration staff. Signing of Entity Cooperation Memoranda creates institutional foundations for joint and standardized municipal training system, which corresponds to the real needs of municipalities.
Memoranda will be signed by the representatives of partner agencies from both entities, namely Federal Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Governance of Republika Srpska, entity agencies for civil service/administration and association of local self-government units.
The report on the findings gathered through the conversations with the municipal and city mayors will also be presented during the ceremony. The report contains a number of interesting information, opinions, views and experiences of mayors regarding training and professional development of employees. The report presents a useful document for planning future municipal activities, focused at capacity building at the local level.
High officials at all levels of the governmet, representatitives of international community and media are invited to the ceremony. The ceremony will be held on Friday, Decemeber 12, 2008, at 12 o'clock.
