Fourth Thematic Conference on "Justice Sector Support economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina" was held today, November 30, 2012,  in Sarajevo. The Conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Justice and USAID Justice Sector Development Project II ( USAID JSDP II ).

The conference was attended by the ministers of justice at all levels in BiH, presidents HJPC and the Judicial Commission of Brcko District, numerous bearers of judicial functions, as well as representatives of civil society organizations in BiH and representatives of international / donor institutions in BiH.

The goal of this conference was a discussion about the role of the institutions of the justice sector in support of the economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the Venice Commission Opinion No. 648/2011 of 18.6.2012. which highlights the relationship and the importance of the rule of law and legal certainty with regard to the economic development of the country, and it is stated that "the principle of legal security plays a key role in strengthening trust in the judicial system and the rule of law,and this is therefore essential for business and economic development of a country.

Conference participants agreed that it is necessary to provide conditions for the establishment of this type of trust on the side of citizens and foreign investors, otherwise it will be no legal ability to enter into contractual relationships with local partners, and will thus reject all activities which are indispensable for the economic development of a country.

The existence of legal certainty (or its absence), therefore, has a significant economic impact.
