MEETING WITH THE CHIEF PROSECUTOR OF THE HAGUE TRIBUNAL

November 12, 2008 - Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Bariša Čolak had a meeting with the Chief Prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal (ICTY), Mr. Serge Brammertz. The meeting was held in the framework of regular working visits of Chief Prosecutor to the former Yugoslav region.
Importance of cooperation between all state institutions and neighboring countries in apprehending of remaining Hague fugitives, processing of war crimes as well as cooperation in the exchange of information was emphasized in the conversation. In that context, the Chief Prosecutor emphasized the importance of strengthening the judicial capacities in all countries from the region.
The Chief Prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal also said that soon certain number of war crime cases are going to be referred to the Court of B&H in accordance with the Rule 11bis of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
Participants of the meeting also emphasized the importance of making State Strategy for Solving Issues of War Crime Cases, which should offer the ways for effective solving of war crime cases in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
