11/20/2008
December 1, 2008-Two texts, out of total 339 proposals for the text of national hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina, got the highest evaluation from the Commission for National Hymn Text Selection. One of those proposals will be sent by the end of the year to the Council of Ministers of B&H and Parliamentary Assembly of B&H for consideration and adoption and thus became the official text of the Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In order to make qualitative selection, both texts will soon be accompanied by the music.
Proposed texts are under the codes and the names of authors will remain anonymous until the final conformation of the selected proposal. The reward for the most successful author is 30.000 BAM, and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina reserves the author rights to the text of the Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a reminder, the text of the hymn is written to the music by Dušan Šestić “Intermezzo“.
Public competition for the text of the national hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened from June to October this year, and only nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina had a right to compete. Proposals came from all around Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from other countries: Germany, Norway, Australia etc. One of the main evaluation criteria of Commission for National Hymn Selection, composed of MPs, prominent writers and music authors, was that all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina can identify themselves in the selected text.
