Citizens express huge interest for the text of the National Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina
08/29/2008
05.09.2008 - Since June this year, when a public competition was announced for the text of the National Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina, approximately 80 proposals for the future text of the Hymn have been delivered to the address of the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Proposals are coming from all around Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from other countries – Germany, Norway, Australia…
The proposed texts are submitted under a code, with information about author in specially sealed envelopes. After the expiry of the competition deadline, in October, all proposals will be opened by a Commission for Selection of Text for the Hymn, and the proposals will be considered by members of the Commission: parliamentarians, writers and respectable music authors. The task of the Commission is to select the most successful candidate and propose the selected text for the text of the National Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This proposal is to be discussed by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The author whose text is selected will be rewarded with 30,000 KM.
As a reminder, the text of the Hymn should be written to the music by Dusan Sestic, and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina reserves the author rights to the text of the Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina once again calls on citizens to take part in this public competition and submit their proposals for the text of the Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina by October 1, 2008, at the latest.
